hermes gentiane blanche
lots of new starts, including a new fragrance. I hardly ever buy perfume, scent is really a personal thing to me, I can't imagine spraying myself with something new everyday. A perfume really has to grow on me before I purchase it, it becomes a signature like your favorite accessory, worn every day. I've been using dioraddict2 for what seems like forever, i fell in love with the chloe fragrance when it first came out, but now it feels like everywhere I go someone smells like chloe, and since i associate a lot of memories and special times with scent, it felt kind of weird wearing it everyday. So I found gentiane blanche in paris almost 5 months ago, and all this time I've been uming and ahing over it, and bought it last week after yet another whiff and a lovely reminder of summer in paris. gentian blanche is a unisex cologne and theres something really appealing about its fragrance (I'm really rubbish at describing scents so I won't even go there) but I loved that it wasn't too sweet and definitely not like anything you smell walking through myer having people shove little pieces of paper in your face about the latest celebrity perfume or what not. And most importantly its different to any of the fragrances I've ever worn, so it kind of marks a new special moment in my life. Speaking of which, my lovely friend Jennifer Cai illustrated one of my photos which is now the new blog header, I'm in love with her work and if I would ever get a tattoo she'd be the one I'd ask to illustrate it for me and capture the essence perfectly.
AHH THE DRAWING IS SO CUTE -- LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOU!
ReplyDelete& i know what you mean about perfume...it has to be personal! loved the chloe perfume but there's nothing like a classic jo malone :) try the honeysuckle & jasmine!

I completely agree with what you said about the Chloe edp! I love it but it seems everybody and their mother has it now... I guess I'm also searching for a new 'signature' scent... thinking about Viktor&Rolf's Flowerbomb, but it also seems to be a bit over-commercialized... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI wish I wasn't a perfume whore. I have like 30 bottles, at least 10 of which I never use. Sigh. I need to invest in a signature scent...

I agree with you that choosing and wearing perfume is personal, I always associate perfume scents with important moments that happend to me while wearing them. I don't have a lot of perfumes, only two, and one is for everyday and the other for like more important stuff like dates, going out or events... this one is my signature scent and I love it to bits.
ReplyDeletethe best layout ever

I feel the same about perfume. I love Chloe as well, but yes it's everywhere. So I wear that for special occasions only and wear Jo Malone Red Roses the rest of the time. It's uncommon, and it smells like Turkish Delight! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with perfume. I wear YSL Parisienne every day. I love it. It's not very often I catch of whiff of it from someone else, but it's instantly recognisable.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a unisex scent. Most man scents are so overpowering. (except rocawear 99 which makes me want to jizz my pants)

I hardly ever buy perfume either for the same reasons. However, I recently discovered Byredo (I think I read about it in A Perfect Guide) and now I'm hooked =)
ReplyDeleteI knew that was a Hermes perfume! :-D I thought they only sold bags.
ReplyDeleteooohhh...will have to check that out. i have my tried-and-trues, but i always like checking new fragrances out!
