la cabine d'essayage: superstyling'

I've been chosen to go through the first round of sportsgirl superstylist finals (I'm not too sure if anyone got rejected at all) which is what all these photos have been about. I took about 100 photos with my dear friend Laura to showcase my favourite transeasonal looks. I was so stumped at what I wanted to do for this entry, i really wanted to have a theme that was a bit different from "rock" or "cute" or anything like that so I sat drinking coffee at uni on one of these super warm days (Sydney has been a beautiful 24 degrees on average, and its winter down here) and i watched people blending winter warmers with beautiful spring clothing and i loved the look of an outfit that looked put together but didn't try to hard. that's what i tried to replicate in these photos. I layered heavy textured fabric with lighter and sheer types. I called the entire shoot "cabine d'essayage" or fitting room in english, to symbolise the process of a speedy change which is reflected upon to create something easy and beautiful. I used Newtown for the location because I loved the old buildings. I felt sort of disadvantaged because most of the people who entered had the most beautiful professional photography and makeup whilst i climbed on top of bins and cars to take my own, I guess that at least I had fun trying not to get seriously injured in the process. I would love it if you could spare 30seconds to sign up and vote (I did so myself, a speedy 23seconds to sign up and another 8ish to vote..) and if you'd like leave any comments with what you like or even didn't like, that's optional if you are procrastinating from doing important work :) If you would like to vote for me you can do so HERE. You vote by choosing the amount of hearts you want to rate a photo (works on the five start principle, except different symbols). I put higher quality images below this post for those who like to look at the finer details of the shoot. Thanks for the support of everyone who threatened to stab in the neck with a fork if i didn't sign up, I must admit i started because I didn't want to start my research essays and reports but I had so much fun, and got to smitten looking at every ones photos I find myself refreshing to check for new ones on a daily basis. Share it with your friends and I hope you enjoy them, afterall, fashion is for the people :)

  3. I agree with the other anon! This looks so beautiful and natural, I loved the other photos but they would look good in a magazine, but couldn't even see the clothes in some of them. This looks like it fit the brief perfectly. You clearly put alot of time and effort into highlighting every piece of clothing and conveying your idea. You seem like a really genuine person and that shines through in your work. Best of luck, you get my vote! Could you also please post what items you used?

  17. Thank you to everyone who has had such wonderful things to say about the shoot (I'm the girl in the pictures in case it wasnt obvious!). Anya is as beautiful a girl in person as she comes across in her blog. She put a lot of time and effort into these photos, and to me it shows. It is disappointing that so many people on the SG website chose to be critical and bitchy about the photos, especially after someone has put so much hard work into them. I am a firm believer in the idea "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all", so I'd just like to say how lovely it is reading how much you all appreciate the amazing job Anya has done. It brings a smile to my face seeing her get the praise she deserves.
