for the love of chanel

source: weheartit

i've had this post i my drafts for a little while (I forgot about it whilst looking for the last picture), but everyone needs a little chanel. everyone and their mother loves it, but there is that beautiful moment in every chanel lovers life where you move on from being a brandwhore to appreciating every intricate detail of the brand. that happened to me a few months before i bought my first bag, i was in the city boutique frolicking merily.. well i was more likely to have an anxiety attack about what would happen if i knocked something over in the display cabinet and i realised the detailing of every item, and the amount of time it must have taken someone to select the material, to measure, to cut and to finalise something. this is also the story of how i got my first job, i got a summer job because i needed to feel the satisfaction of handing over my very own money for one of these pieces of art. so a good few years have past, and i ende up in the relitvly new bondi boutique after an interview to browse. luckily the classic ballerina flats i had my eye on for a while were is stock. needless to say i got them as an early christmas present for myself. i also ended up next door at david jones shoe department.. after about 5minutes of browsing i realised that with the amount of money i spent on the chanel flats i could have bought myself 3 pairs of mediocore, part leather part synthetic, glue at the seams shoes. these were just average shoes, nothing fancy. i seriousy wanted to slap myself for not getting some earlier, considering the lack of shoes i have, these will last me a good 5 years.. im sure the 3 pairs of shoes i picked to compare my new shoes to would last someone a few weeks before falling apart and leaving the owner stranded.

anyway. the point is.. you never really understand how amazing something like a well crafted bag, a pair of shoes, or unique jewellery really is untill you own it.

  8. Even though I have no items of Chanel, but truly intend to get some, I find the clothes so feminine, and soft. It really brings out the feminine features. + I think that mostly what speaks the French culture for women, soft and polite and womanly

    J'aime J'adore.

  14. that is so true! My moment of quality appreciation came when I bought a pair of Wolford stockings. A couple of years ago I saw a pair in a magazine I liked and hunted them down, forked out the money just cos I loved them so much. And they lasted me TWO YEARS. normally stockings last me between two weeks or two days! I just bought another 3 pairs in NYC (much more affordable!). I'm very happy.
